First Period – Japanese 3—room 110
Instructions to students:
“Turn to page 84 in the Kimono textbook. Read this page, and then translate the Japanese portion into English. Hand that translation in to the teacher before you leave class. Then turn to page 83 and write out the first assignment, in other words, write out your own dialogue where your friend objects to doing karake and you find ways to overcome those objections. Hand that assignment to the teacher, as well. Both these assignments are to be done individually, and NOT as pair or group assignments.”

Fifth Period (period 5 A)– Japanese 1 – room 110
Instructions for students:
“In class, read text pp. 78 and 79 and take notes on content.
Then read the following story about the sloth and the koala. Translate it into English. Add 5 more Japanese sentences to the story. Hand all this in.”
Please make 30 copies of the following Japanese text – one copy should be enlarged to 24 point type for Stephanie – and hand copies out to students.

Sixth Period (Period 6 B)– Japanese 2 – room 110
Instructions for students:
“ Go to page 55 of your textbook, 2 Kimono, where it says “itte imashou” and “gokazoku wa nan nin desu ka.” This page gives us the chance to review information about family members, kinship terms. Write out translations of of all the Japanese on the page and hand those translations in at the end of the period. Please note the kanji for “father,” “mother,” “what,” and “person.” Please note that each of these kanji has more than one pronunciation. Also write out your answers in Japanese to the questions at the bottom of the page.”
Seventh period – Japanese 4 and AP Japanese – room 110
This class does not meet on Block One days.
