INDEPENDENT STUDY JAPANESE


Handout the second of Naomi Schrock’s newspaper articles – answer questions as a group exercise, but do not use dictionaries.

Homework: look up the kanji phrases at end of handout questions and write both English meanings and pronunciation in hiragana

Collect student-proposed test questions and read out loud from them.

Selected students talk about other people’s family posters and about their own families.

Start of possible new story for 1 Kimono chapter 7, family members, destinations, past tense adjectives, etc. -- Projected through laptop/notebook on board:

International Night will be Thursday night from 5 to 8. We need people for the origami-chopstick-calligraphy table. We also need people for the Japan Exchange table.

Kanji lesson:
