Each student chose an adjective; must produce 9” by 12” poster (you may not use notebook papers) of adjective, written in large, clear hiragana, with an illustration. Due Friday

Iroha handout:
Students must make beautiful 9” by 12” poster of Iroha -- colors, clear writing. Use only modern hiragana; don’t use archaic ones.

長さ：　五つ　の　段落（だんらく）、三分
Practice your speech so that you can speak comfortably and clearly and with a natural rhythm. Before speaking, you must hand out a list of unfamiliar vocabulary so that everyone can understand your speech. This assignment will be graded as an oral performance, not as a written project. The other students will take notes as you speak and will contribute to the evaluation. You will hand in the (legible) notes to Sensei at the end of your speech. You will see a rubric for speeches/presentations on the other side of this page. Thinking about these criteria will be useful when getting ready to talk about the matsuri you have chosen.

日本間：靴（くつ）の箱（はこ）の中の内容 （ないよう）contents

１． ふすま sliding door
２． 押し入れ horizontal closet for futon, etc.
３． つくえ　low desk　OR　火燵（こたつ） kotatsu (low table with heater underneath and quilt over the top)
４． 畳（たたみ）rice mats on the floor
